Reverse Engineering at MGS

24 January 2022

Reverse engineering or copy/paste engineering as it is sometime known, is perfectly legal and a legitimate way to replicate physical items where drawing and models are not available for whatever reason. Usually the reason is that the equipment the component is used in has stopped being produced by the original equipment manufacturer. Once the support from the original maker has been withdrawn it can leave the equipment owner in a difficult position when it comes to spare parts.

If the equipment is still functioning well, the owners are reluctant to decommission it, for the obvious reasons of cost, time and effort, and downtime. This is where copy/paste engineering can come to the rescue, and it allows spare part manufacturing from any physical sample. MGS Precision specialises in copy paste engineering, and works with a number of clients, taking physical samples and creating drawings and models from those samples, such that new components can be manufactured at request.
