During December 2016, MGS Precision’s parent company, Rubicon Partners, concluded the acquisition of Cerdic Foundries Limited, a Lloyds approved foundry in Chard, Somerset.
Although operated autonomously, this transaction will continue to strengthen the technical relationship and help to drive improvements through the overall supply chain, ultimately helping to improve customer service levels across a range of MGS customers.
The foundry was founded in 1970, offers a ferrous and non-ferrous foundry with expertise in phosphor bronze and a rapidly developing cast steel capability. Employing 50 staff, the foundry has an induction melting capacity of 10 tonnes per day in 2 off ½ tonne, 2 off 1 tonne and a 1½ tonne furnace.
CFL are unique as being the only Lloyds Register approved foundry casting Compacted Graphite and 1 of less than 5 foundries offering lost foam process.
MGS Precision, through its close working relationship with CFL, is able to offer a full service from initial engineering and modelling, through the casting process including pattern design and manufacturing, heat treatment and concluding with a fully machined and assembled product.
