During the summer, MGS Precision has been proud to be involved with Keele Management School and host a student project.
The programme, for Masters students, requires a student to undertake a 10-week work based consultancy project dealing with a real issue and delivering some tangible benefits for the company.
MGS were delighted to host the programme for Keele University Students and Fred Dzikunu joined us in June 2017.
Fred having studied for his undergraduate degree at the University of Ghana was undertaking an MSc in Accounting and Financial Management.
The project selected involved the supplier quality approval process for one of our major customers, Rolls Royce. The approval, known as SABRe, required a gap analysis, project management of action plans and the writing of a Business Continuity plan for the business.
The whole 10-week process was extremely beneficial for both student and MGS – Fred obtained the necessary credits for his qualification (in fact he received an “honourable mention at the final awards event) and MGS has a robust business continuity plan and is well on the way to SABRe approval.
The course tutors, Dr. Colin Rigby and Tracey Clewlow were very supportive and helpful throughout the 10 week period and the overall experience was enjoyable and beneficial in equal measure.
Tom Green, MGS Managing Director said “the role Fred performed during the summer was very important for MGS. Not only did he deliver an invaluable piece of work but he challenged the way we looked at certain situations and as such we have a much more robust procedure than if we had undertaken it ourselves.”
